The 5-Day Do Dham Yatra brings together Kedarnath and Badrinath, two of Uttarakhand's four Char Dham pilgrimage centres, in a compact Himalayan circuit from Dehradun or Haridwar. Kedarnath is a high-altitude Shiva shrine and one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, while Badrinath is the revered Vishnu shrine in the upper Alaknanda valley.

Begin

Meet your driver at the confirmed pickup point in Dehradun or Haridwar and begin the road journey towards the Kedarnath corridor.

Enter the hills

Travel through the Garhwal road network towards Rudraprayag, Guptkashi and the upper Mandakini valley, with route and refreshment halts according to road conditions.

Arrive

Reach Sonprayag, complete the required local preparations for the following morning and settle into your accommodation.

After reaching Kedarnath and settling in, proceed for temple darshan according to current temple timings, crowd movement and local instructions.

Rest

Stay overnight in the Kedarnath area and keep the remainder of the evening light after the physically demanding ascent.

Morning in the Kedarnath valley

Spend time in the high-altitude temple settlement before beginning the descent-a very different experience from arriving and leaving on the same day.

Badrinath beside the Alaknanda

Experience the second Dham in a different landscape, with the temple, Tapt Kund and the upper Alaknanda valley forming the centre of the pilgrimage town.

Beyond Badrinath to Mana

Continue beyond the main temple town towards Mana and explore the accessible village area and landmarks such as Bheem Pul according to available time and local access.

One final darshan at Dhari Devi

Break the long return journey with a spiritual pause at the Dhari Devi shrine in the Alaknanda corridor near Srinagar.

Frequently asked questions about the 5-Day Do Dham Yatra

It is a demanding, fast-paced pilgrimage. The Kedarnath sector is the most strenuous: the current official route information describes an approximately 16 km approach from Gaurikund, generally requiring several hours on foot. Day 3 is also very long because it combines the descent and onward road transfer towards Pandukeshwar.

Route distances have varied across older tourism material and route changes. The current official Uttarakhand pilgrimage portal lists the Gaurikund–Kedarnath trek as approximately 16 km. Always follow current official route information at the time of travel.

Helicopter services operate from designated points including Guptkashi, Phata and Sirsi, subject to weather and availability. Shuttle tickets for Kedarnath are booked through the authorised IRCTC HeliYatra system and are separate unless expressly included in your package.

Yes. The Uttarakhand Tourism registration portal states that Yatra registration is mandatory and provides verification points along the pilgrimage route and at the Dhams.

It depends on individual health, mobility and the chosen Kedarnath access mode.
